After spending my early years in Tacna, Peru I moved to Campo Grande, MS (Brazil). I have been there during 15 years, where I earned a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the Department of Computing and Statistics, Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul in 1997. Then, I started graduate studies in Computer Science at the Computational Intelligence Laboratory, University of São Paulo (São Carlos) and received a M.Sc. degree in Computer Science by 1999. I also worked as a professor in the Computer Engineering Program, Dom Bosco Catholic University (Brazil) from 1999 to 2004. I am currently a PhD student in the Department of Computer Science, Utah State University. My current research interests include machine learning, information retrieval, computer vision, and higher education in computing.
